The Polish Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday that it has detected an object in Polish airspace that entered from the direction of Belarus, and that the object is likely an observation balloon.
The ministry tweeted that radar contact with the object had been lost near the central Polish town of Rypin.
The Territorial Defense Forces are searching for the object.
Saturday’s allegation follows two other known incursions into Polish airspace since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which borders Poland to the east.
In November, two Polish men were slain when a missile fired by Ukrainian air forces in an attempt to repel a large-scale Russian attack landed in eastern Poland.
In addition, Polish military and political officials are confronting concerns regarding a second object that landed on Polish soil in December but was not discovered until April.
