On Friday, the Arkansas Ethics Commission voted to approve a revised set of campaign finance regulations, one of which raises the maximum amount of money that a candidate for public office is allowed to take as a donation from an individual contributor from $2,900 to $3,300 for each election.
A method that takes into consideration statistics from the federal consumer price index was used to establish the updated contribution ceiling, which was then authorized by the panel consisting of five members. According to Graham Sloan, who is the director of the commission, the commission does not have any authority over the formula.
The commission is obligated to change the contribution limit in a sum that is equivalent to the percentage that is certified to the Federal Election Commission by the United States. This adjustment must take place at the beginning of each year that begins with an odd number.
